How to Update Router Firmware With Pc Linksys

Upgrading the Linksys Wi-Fi Router or Linksys Ten-serial Gateway’s firmware will provide a quick fix for issues that users may have encountered.  This includes a more stable connectivity and functionality enhancements to the router.

 Here are a few tips and tricks before yous begin the upgrade process:

  For stable connectivity and to prevent upgrade failures, make sure that your calculator is connected to the router using an Ethernet cable.  Upgrading the firmware wirelessly may cause permanent damage to the router if the Net connexion becomes unstable during the process.

IMPORTANT:  Only

Visit the

Linksys Support Site


.  Enter the model number of your product in the
Search
field and click the model number of the device you need help with from the drop-down list.  The product folio of your device will and so appear.

NOTE:
In this example, the Linksys E4200 is used.

Scroll-downwards to theDownloads/Firmwaresection then click
Download Software.

Click the
hardware version
of your device.

Save

File Download
dialog box that appears.  Expect for the

dialog box and then select a location for the file, like the

For Mac® computers, it will be automatically saved in the
Downloads
binder.

NOTE:
The name of the file may vary depending on the firmware file of your device.

Step 6:


If the firmware file you lot have downloaded is in a
.zip
format, double-click the file and excerpt its contents to a single folder or to the
Desktop.

If you’re using a Mac computer, double-click on the
.nada
file to begin the extraction process.

Performing and completing the firmware upgrade

After downloading the firmware, you may now proceed to accessing the
Avant-garde Settings
feature of the
Linksys Connect
software to access the router’s web-based setup page.

Launch
Linksys Connect
then click
Router settings.

Router settings
screen, click
Advanced settings.

Advanced settings

Copy password

Step 4:


When you are prompted for a

Countersign, enter your router’southward User proper name and correct-click in the Countersign field and select
Paste
to paste the password you have copied earlier.  Then, click
OK.
