Canon lenses firmware?

I presume all modern lenses take some firmware. The question is, how is it with Canon? Do the lenses take updatable firmware at all? Is at that place any information about this? Is it worth bugging your closest service centre about? I know newer firmware tin make a lot of differences for lenses like the 150-600mm Sigma… merely how about Canon?

Though I take not seen many Canon lens firmware update announcement s, I saw one on yesterday. Information technology is for the newly released 24-105mm F4 2 lens. It seems to be related to the IS function.

Early product of the EF 40 f/2.8 STM required a firmware update to gear up an issue with the STM motor quitting if any pressure was applied to the front of the lens.

Note that updating lens firmware can but be washed by the user with the more than recent bodies.  If yours is doesn’t have this capability, yous’ll have to send the lens to a Service Center.

Re: Canon lenses firmware?

Well, I have 80D, simply it doesn’t seem like at that place is whatever such functionality. I don’t have whatsoever idea what else might exist needed though.

A firmware update, to meliorate AF, was required for my 300/f2.8 II.  I had to take it to a service centre to have it washed, though not sure if it would be possible to do it through a 1DX torso (which I didn’t have at the time).
