How to Flash Firmware on Mecool Hm8

Hello anybody. Since my last experiment with booting the Mi Box S ROM, I’ve been searching a mode to boot other ROM’south from other devices. I needed a way hands change the DNR (Denoiser) and then I could amend video quality on apps like Disney+ and I needed a way to become Auto Framerate Switch to get that shine playback, so I found this Mecool KM1 ROM (yes, with S905X3) and I was able to boot information technology on my S905X device.

The performance of this ROM is bang-up for me, DNR and Picture options are available, in that location’due south an easy way to ROOT it and you can justinstall AFRD app to get Auto Framerate Switch.

Hardware Support

This is where it gets tricky, my box has a S905X CPU with a QCA9377 and works perfect hither. For at present I don’t have whatsoever other boxes to examination but I’ll be working hard with my friend

to bring more back up, I also need your feedback to figure things out.

How To Install

Use Amlogic USB Burn Tool with a Male person to Male person USB Cable to flash the ROM, connect to the TV and wait until it boots up.

How To Root

Download the Temporary TWRP and Super SU files linked bellow and copy them to an SD Card or USB Drive.

Enable ADB Debugging on developer settings. Find your box IP Adress, for this you lot tin can go to the About Settings folio and about.

Employ a tool like “Minimal ADB Fastboot”, connect your device through ADB and employ the command “adb reboot recovery” to go to the recovery.

From this recovery install the temporary TWRP zip, afterwards that you lot’ll be booting to TWRP, from there you lot need to select USB or SD card, from in that location you lot just select the SuperSU zip.

Restart the box and you’ll be rooted.

What’s next

You tin expect updates to this ROM.
I have plans to bring ROOT and AFRD pre-installed if in that location’s popular demand for it.
I’m also working on getting Android x to boot on S905X when I can get some more than gratuitous time out of college.
Because using Telegram and so we can exchange some ideas together.

Thanks for the ROM. I accept tried successfully on an x96 box with 1G/8G. Both the wifi and remote works well. The trouble is when I tried to root the device – I tin’t seem to connect via adb (I accept developer pick and USB debugging enabled). My computer does not recognise that the device is connected (via male USB-A to male USB-A cablevision). It would exist fantastic if y’all upload an image with root pre-installed.

Really ignore the terminal request. I have managed to root my device afterwards muddling through the adb over network. Thanks once again for the fantastic ROM

Hi. I have to try to install this rom on the TUREWELL T95 Max+ but the usb burning tool gave me this error 0x10102002
Tin can it be solved somehow?

At present my HG680P is running Marshmallow (rooted)
What can i practice to upgrade from marshmallow to Pie or at least Nougat..
UBT process stopped at vii% (later “download meson1” then state “formatting”, and fail/stopped right there)

As my friend have a HG680P unit which is running stock Android Pie (from manufacturer)..
And is already run rooted Pie now..

Nosotros practice cross-cheque both device, and it’due south plough out both device is identical..

Tested on A95X B7N (905x one/eight Realtek 8616 or 8618 – can’t recall), some observations:
ane. Operation is quite expert
2.Wifi does non work

3. Original remote supplied with box does not work. Nonetheless a generic remote from a erstwhile S805 MXQ box (512 ram) works perfectly
4. EAC3 Sound does not output anything through Plex, regardless of Sound settings (incl. Avant-garde) or Plex settings (common for my box at least, workaround possible).
v. HDR works.

Disney+ gibi uygulamalarda video kalitesini iyileştirebilmek için DNR’yi (Denoiser) kolayca değiştirebilecek bir yola ihtiyacım vardı ve bu pürüzsüz oynatmayı elde etmek için Otomatik Kare Hızı Anahtarını almanın bir yoluna ihtiyacım vardı, bu yüzden bu Mecool KM1 ROM’u buldum (evet, S905X3 ile) ve onu S905X cihazımda başlatmayı başardım.

I’ve the same box and had the same experience .Swell tip on generic remote ,works a care for. Tried atvxperience beta v5 ROM all good simply once more no wifi

tried, and yes, this rom tin can kick coreelec (adb reboot update), and we tin can even dual boot coreelec on internal retentivity using “ceemmc -x” !

rom looks ok, but live channels crash immediately when trying to use PIP.

rom dainty just no DD, DD+ and DTS sound via HDMI passthrough in manual and machine way, there is only stereo sound, can you gear up it?

I am sorry, I forgot about this ROM. I tin’t update it anymore, my S905X box’southward eMMC storage died last year and I bought a new Chromecast w/ Google TV, then, I have no manner to test and develop any s905x ROM’s anymore.
