Only thought I would offering upwards this data in the promise that it may help.

Recently,
Windows 10
did an automated update on drivers, and I lost the selection for the
1600×900 resolution
which I also need.

What I noticed, if I opened my
Device Managing director
(correct click on
start menu
and click on Device Director) and then double-clicked on
Brandish Adapters, I got
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 serial
displaying.

If I then right-clicked on this (ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 serial) and and so clicked on
Properties, it was showing
“No Drivers

Installed for this device”

Adjacent, I right-clicked on my
desk-top
screen
and clicked on
Display Settings. In that location was an pick to
Display Adapter Properties. Afterward clicking on this, it was showing
“Microsoft Bones Display Driver”
and this was upwardly to date.

I was dislocated at this point as I am no wizard when it comes to computers. I realised that I had an choice hither, but I was too scared to install or update the
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series
as I thought there might exist some sort of conflict that would make matters worse.

So, I contacted support, and this is what solved the upshot.

Go back to the

January 2015 update. Reason existence ? AMD does not have a current working commuter for this graphics card.

He did this for me by remote assist, but it is a uncomplicated pace. What I noticed afterwards also is when I looked dorsum in the
Display Adapter Properties
(through the
desk-bound-top screen), the “Microsoft Basic Display Driver” had gone
and was now showing equally
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series.

Oh, and of form, you lot get your 1600×900 resolution back !

I started having the same issue with huge stretched screen display afterward a November 27 Windows update..

I merely went into the Device Manager and rolled dorsum the brandish driver from the ane installed on eleven/27/17 (c0317757.inf)  to the previous one which worked fine (c7179335.inf – dated  1/13/2015)..

All is fine at present and pages are non skewed extra wide in all my programs anymore.

The old driver has many different resolutions listed equally well.

Basic issue: AMD is no longer updating the driver for this grade of display adapter for Windows 10.  So Windows defaults to its “basic” display adapter that is shockingly basic for 2017.  Flintstone stuff.

The AMD autodetect app correctly finds you have the latest driver and does nothing else.  Unfortunately the latest driver is seen equally incompatible past Win10.

To re-enable the ATI commuter you accept to curl back to the previous version.  The trouble I found is that afterward the contempo major Win10 update the “roll back” option is not available in the commuter backdrop:

I guess the sad truth is that eventually older hardware becomes obsolete. Hopefully those of us with this graphics adapter can keep chugging for a while longer.
