We found that the dual-wan features on the ASUS modem were not working. Whenever we had dual-wan enabled, no net traffic was possible. Information technology may also be helpful if this list were automatically retrieved from ASUS routers from time to time to account for companies that may become bought out or that have gone out of business.

A rather inexpensive solution may be for ASUS to host a few ping servers using an inexpensive service like DigitalOcean, on a few cheap PCs in different locations around the globe. Then list updates would probably non be needed, or would exist needed so rarely that they could be a role of a normal firmware update.

Meanwhile we accept disabled dual-WAN and accept internet access, even thought the ASUS RT-AC3200 is still reporting that we take no connectivity. I filled out the feedback form in the router and I am waiting for a response. I will update this thread as soon as I hear from ASUS.

(Before you inquire why a small business is using a home router instead of a small business router, it is considering the small business organisation routers that I have checked out have more limited VPN access – fewer available connections- , slower VPN access and fewer features than the ASUS routers provide for less money.)

UPDATE:
Having nothing to lose, and beingness concerned about missing some of the fixes in the latest firmware update, I decided to try going back to the current firmware that seemed to be the crusade of the failure – version iii.0.0.4.382_51939-g3ecf3e2.

While still on the previous firmware version ( 3.0.0.iv.382.51640), I performed a manufactory reset from the ASUS RT-AC3200’southward

Administration > Restore/Save/Upload Setting

This reset the router’s settings to factory defaults.

Next, I upgraded the firmware to the latest version – version 3.0.0.4.382_51939-g3ecf3e2 from the

Administration > Firmware Upgrade

tab.


The new firmware (version iii.0.0.4.382_51939-g3ecf3e2) installed without any issues and the router correctly showed that it was online and connected to the internet where information technology was showing that it was non connected to the internet fifty-fifty though it was when I first tried this firmware upgrade without get-go resetting the router to factory settings.

And then I went well-nigh setting up the modem just equally I had it before (with VPN logins, static IPs, etc) and everything seemed to be OK.

The just problem that I have seen was when the dual-WAN switched from the chief WAN to the secondary WAN, information technology was slow to switch back to the primary WAN and required unplugging the master WAN’southward ethernet cable from the ASUS RT-AC3200 and plugging it back in a couple of times to become it back on the master WAN.

But I was trying something else with our Comcast modem at the time and that glitch could have been because of my testing or because of a possible problem with the Comcast modem itself, as it was exhibiting foreign behavior and we now have a Comcast technician coming out to cheque information technology out.
