The PC only shows 1 USB port. I tried creating a local port, but so information technology’due south non USB and obviously doesn’t work. You can run across in the moving picture I manually created USB002.

The printers are plugged into unlike USB ports. There are four USB 2.0 ports on the PC.

Take you updated the chip set drivers or bus drivers for the PC?
Also may be worth checking for a BIOS update.

I oasis’t checked the drivers or BOIS, this is a new PC. But I will check those.
Bill, can yous explain how using the universal driver would help me? Wouldn’t it still demand to install on a USB printer port?

I have a Windows impress server just these do not have ethernet. They are onetime printers.

That would exist a USB impress server. They are fairly cheap and easy to fix. But, if you only need to impress on this ane PC yous should certainly be able to use more than than one USB port at a fourth dimension.

I agree Larry, yous should be able to. But what a hassle. In this case I do share this printer out to one other PC, so the print server may exist benign.

I really have another PC that I demand to practice this with…a dedicated label print PC, that won’t share with other PCs. It will have 2 characterization printers and one laserjet hooked to it. And so it will notwithstanding exist nice to figure this out.

New PC or not it may not be up to date.
On a side not we run about 400 dell optiplex 390’s here with dymo characterization printers and hp laserjet 1102w’s.
I have three of the 1600’southward myself running with dymo’s installed as well. I would too brand sure you are using the newest driver downloadable hereHP 1600 as it was updated in 2013. And if similar me and you’ve had these printers since 2010 or 2011 this installation disc isn’t uniform with Windows 7.
Sorry if all of this is obvious stuff you take tried. Simply roofing all bases.

I did download the newest 1600 driver, but take not tried the other drivers and BIOS. I may try that on my other PC.

And that’s what I expected to happen, but mine put both printers on the USB001. Similar I said, neither of these are plug-n-play, then I wondered if that factored in?

Shouldn’t affair. The installation drivers of the 2d printer no matter the age should recognize the start virtual port being in apply.
I would besides recommend installing the both incompatibility fashion if they are pre-windows vii devices.

Is in that location a chance that both of those printers were plugged into the computer before the drivers were installed? It seems mutual for printer manufacturers to warn against doing so equally Windows will attempt to install an outdated driver on its own. The standalone impress server sounds like a great idea because you can identify the printers abroad from the calculator, if demand be. Some of them volition support more than one USB device, too. We use one of these devices to share an ancient LaserJet. The print server itself is so onetime now that we can’t log into information technology for direction without downloading some VERY outdated version of Java.

Plug the starting time printer in and install it, and so unplug the usb from the figurer. Plug the second printer in and go to device manager and do a refresh (right click the computer name at the top, check for hardware changes). Wait for windows to recognize the 2nd printer. Then plug the 1st printer back in. Fixed. Just did this with two zebra printers. 1 450 1 505. GL
