Add Network Printer Windows 7 Not Listed
Take you lot checked their network grouping membership?
What print server are you running?
accept yous tried to add them manually just to run across if they are available?
I am able to add together the printers no problem at all virtually that – Once I state the printer is not in the list and notice they show upwardly (just like they did in XP).
The print server is a 2003r2 box
CharlieB – Is at that place a specific network grouping membership that people need to see the printers (probably not since I don’t encounter them as a domain admin)
Cheers for the posts
Unless I am mistaken, they should show equally a Domain Network. You might desire to verify that network discovery is turned on too.
perchance I am missing something.
Are you maxim that the printers should be visible in AD Users and Computers too?
No, only they need to be “listed in the directory”.
They all practice take the List in Directory checked.
I matter I simply noticed in the Printers.msc I don’t show whatever printers in the “Deployed Printers” section. Should the printers show up hither?
No, when I don’t have any in that department of the snap-in either. Y’all checked that the machines have network discovery turned on, correct?
Then the actual printers should take network discovery turned on or the calculator looking for the printer?
The machines looking for the printers.
It does look similar network discovery is turned on for my computer.
Interestingly I did notice a printer in the network list (though it is i out of 40 we have on the network)
This is common also in Vista. You just need to say no the printer was non in the list and so modify to the parent domain or kid domain and click notice now, then add the printer you are looking for. Also think for user pc’s install equally admin earlier trying to add as the user.
How-do-you-do Dking,
I know that that is the manner to get effectually it. I am just trying to effigy out why nothing shows upwards and how to get printers to show upwards in the initial search screen.
Have y’all considered using the Deploy Printers feature in Windows 2003 R2? That may make things easier as yous can automatically deploy printers through grouping policy.
Craig,
Thank you for the respond.
Unfortunately our visitor is weird with printers. We have 3 principal location (with way to many printers at each location). Subsequently that we accept twenty+ other semi remote locations (1 printer with 1-five computers). And anybody is constantly moving. And so deploying out all the printers, while it would be nice to do does non seem feasible at this time.
I guess my biggest question really is what is this search feature used for/does it actually work or is it just an extra step to get people to spring through?
Are yous talking about the search active directory feature?
hither is a pic of the screen I am talking well-nigh
Howdy BWelmers,
I got to revive your asking for an reply since I am having the aforementioned problem myself. I need to get this working and then I can make documentation for users on how to install a network printer. The moving picture higher up is my same issue. My Win7 clients have network discovery turned on and file/impress sharing turned on too. My server is 2008 R2 and has file and print sharing on BUT does not have Network discovery turned on. I’m not certain if that’s whats stopping me or not. All my network printers have “list in directory checked”. Someone got an reply???
well you lot are in luck I did create a how to on this
http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/1374
information technology actually is not too difficult to go working correctly
How-do-you-do BWelmers,
My Win7 clients only bear witness exactly 20 printers listed and have been for months. At present I went to the “managed network” gp setting and information technology defaults to simply twenty printers. Intresting. I bumped it up to 200. Volition mail service back results. This was the just thing I changed out of your link higher up. Man I hope this works. Makes you wonder why Microsoft but gear up the default to 20. Thanks for your help and difficult work on this. I was almost to requite upward!
Mike
Howdy Once more BWelmers,
I’m happy to written report that the change above I fabricated is now showing over 100 printers on the list at present. First-class Work! Is there a fashion to give Karma on Spiceworks like brownie points?
Glad that got information technology working for you.
yup one thing you can do is go to the how to and spice it up.
Once y’all five people spice it up I will get some spice points.
Also if you had started a new topic you would be able to award a all-time answer wich also gives some spice points.
